Greetings from the Director... As Ladies of Lee concludes their 43rd season we remember our rich heritage even as we press on towards Christ's continuing call upon the choir.
This season has brought many exciting opportunities to performance in new venues as well as return to old favorites. Last fall we sang for candlelight tours at Biltmore House and opening night at Rock City's Enchanted Festival of Lights. We give a special thanks to Mr. Virgil Clark who stepped in as substitute driver after our scheduled driver, Mr. Eric Ricks 's lost his fiancée in a tragic accident during the night before our trip to South Carolina. Our prayers for their families continue.
The spring tour opened with lunch in Baltimore along the Inner Harbor Circle, then on to Annapolis, MD where we led in worship at the United States Naval Academy Chapel for Sunday morning service. Such a memorable experience, with over 1600 worshippers in attendance! We even got to meet two midshipmen from Tennessee, Michael and Andy! Following the 9:00 Mass at the USNA, we dashed across town to sing at Severna Park United Methodist Church. Our evening concert in Lewes, DE concluded a tremendous day of praise and worship! A 176 year old sanctuary, the oldest Presbyterian congregation in North America, in the first town in the first state in the union!!
The church families across Maryland, Delaware, and Virginia blessed us with new friendships, words of encouragement and gracious offerings. We were able to spend part of two days touring Washington, D.C. and even went bare-footed on the beach in 40 degrees! For many of our members this was their first trip to the nation's capitol and to the Atlantic. Our beloved bus driver, Mr. Tom Held, served as our resident photographer, documenting our trip with wonderful slide shows.
Our final trips for the 2007-2008 school year will take us to Warner Robbins, GA, Soddy Daisy, April 12-13 and Westmoreland, TN, April 19-20. We are looking ahead to the Fall of 2008 when we will be touring Kentucky, Ohio and Illinois.
