PURPOSE: Kappa Delta Pi is an education honor society whose purpose is to encourage high professional, intellectual and personal standards and to recognize outstanding contributions to education.  To this end it shall invite to membership such persons as exhibit commendable personal qualities, worthy educational ideals, and sound scholarship.  It shall endeavor to maintain a high degree of professional fellowship among its members  and to quicken professional growth by honoring achievement in educational work.

HISTORY OF KAPPA DELTA PI:  Kappa Delta Pi was incorporated as an Honorary Education Fraternity on June 8, 1911 at the University of Illinois.  In 1932, the title was changed to Kappa Delta Pi, an honor Society in Education.  Again in 1981, the title was changed to Kappa Delta Pi, An International Honor Society in Education.

The characters Kappa, Delta, and Pi represent our motto--Knowledge, Duty, Power--words expressing the whole meaning of our educational ideals.

The local chapter of KDP is the Upsilon Kappa chapter, housed on the Lee University Campus.  Students are invited to join based on acceptance into the Teacher Education Program and a 3.7 or higher GPA.
